About Slidell Music |
In 1989 owner Michael Romano started a sound reinforcement & light company called Micro Sound & Lighting. We started off doing live sound at small venues for bands and also were doing disc jockey services. Started investing in more sound and lighting equipment and was able to move to larger venues.
In 1989 we were contracted to do the Sound & Lighting for the Louisiana Crawfish Festival. In 1990 we were hired as Al Hirts exclusive sound & light engineer, and we were contracted to do A/V for the major company AED and were hired to do the New Orleans convention in 1991. In 1994 we opened a Music store in the small town of Chalmette, Louisiana, which is about 6 miles south east of New Orleans. Both companies grew as we started doing live sound for major groups that passed through New Orleans. We were the exclusive sound company for the now famous Jimmy's Music Club in New Orleans.
Mr. Romano did 3 short tours as production manger of the ‘96’97’98 Legends of Jazz Tour featuring: Al Hirt, Pete Fountain, Preservation Hall Jazz band, & the Dukes of Dixie Land. Some other major groups included; Outcast, Slash, Pantera, Anthrax, Dr. Hook, Dave Mathews, Beck, George Porter, Zachary Richard, The Byrds, and Steppenwolf, just to list a few.
In 2005 July we opened a second music store in Slidell, La about 35 miles north of New Orleans, called Slidell Music Company, INC.
On August 29, 2005 Chalmette Music Company & Micro Sound were both totally destroyed by hurricane Katrina. The town of Chalmette was totally destroyed along with of my home & businesses.
Slidell Music Company was unscratched from the storm but much of the Slidell area was flooded with as much as 21' of water. We were able to reopen on October 3, 2005 as we were fully stocked.
Since then we have concentrated all of our operation to this single store and are one of the top music stores in the area. Our web page 1stMusicStore.com is the Internet site for Slidell Music Company.
This is a new site and has a lot of the same stuff you may see on other sites, except the expertise that we can offer, not just to the professional but the beginner as well. We carry many of the lines available on the Internet.
This store is run buy people who are in the music business. Not just sales or telemarketing folks who have no thorough concept of MUSIC! This is why we can help you with any and all of your musical needs.
